The
Niagara Celtic Heritage Society invites everyone to their 10th Annual
Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival & Highland Games which will
be taking place September 18 & 19. History will come alive at
lakeside Krull Park, inside the charming village of Olcott Beach.
Guests of this yearly festival, just a one hour drive from both
Buffalo and Rochester, will find themselves immersed in the traditions
and pageantry of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Upon
entering the grounds guests will be enchanted by Irish Step Dancers,
thrilled by Pipe Bands, and mesmerized by historical re-enactors.
Visitors should be sure to visit the athletic field, where they
can cheer on their favorite athlete as he or she competes in the
centuries old Strongman Competition known as Highland Games. Young
children will be enthralled with the kid's area, complete with mini-Highland
Games, crafts, rides and more! No trip would be complete without
a visit to the Marketplace where guests will discover unique gifts,
foods, and crafts to take home as a reminder of their incredible
weekend.
After
all the excitement, guests can relax under the pavilion to the sounds
of Celtic music, as they enjoy the celebrated foods offered in the
food court. Visitors should be sure to stay late on Saturday night
for the Ceilidh (Kay-lee), a celebration of music and dancing around
bonfires. It is a party that everyone on the grounds participates
in, ensuring great fun and many fond memories.
